We had some very special visitors today!
Aren't they cute?? One of my teammates (also known as my Teaching BFF) came over this morning and asked if my class could come visit for awhile. Of course. Yes. The answer is always yes... no questions asked. (We have started a great "Family Time" with our classes this year and it is my favorite thing to do... more on that soon!) She said she wanted to read some books and "do something special" with all our kiddos.
While the books were great, it was the precious baby chicks that really got us excited! Rachelle's mom is also an amazing kindergarten teacher. I guess she gets some eggs from a local farm each year. Then she and her class incubate them, watch them hatch and care for the baby chicks. (The chicks are returned to the farm when they are about 2 weeks old.) The chicks are almost a week old and Rachelle packed them up to bring them in to show our students for "ONE DAY ONLY". (She was very definite about that timeline ;)
Is that not the cutest thing ever? The kids LOVED them.
This is pretty much how the day went...
"They are so cute!"
"Can I touch them?"
"Can I hold them?"
"Thank you for bringing those cute baby chicks!"
"I love you Ms. Blanco!"
"I think he likes me."
"Should I go read a story to the chicks? They look like they want to hear a story!"
It was adorable.
(Both the chicks and the kindergarteners.)
After school, the fun continued and Ms. Blanco had all the "staff kids" (as my sons like to say) come visit the chicks. Most of the staff kids are a little older, so they had more "baby chick free reign".
Look at that face!
This is one of my twins. Do you think he had fun?
We heard a lot of "This was the best day ever!"
Adorable. Love them.
(Again, the chicks and the kindergarteners.)
